We've always heard the saying, "the older the wiser", yet so many people in their twenties look themselves in the mirror with horror at the thought of aging. Due to the patriarchal perpetuance of a global cultural of youthful lustfulness, a bizarre stigma around aging has developed. People tend to start harshly criticizing their life paths, becoming disenfranchised with themselves and their looks instead of counting the ways their lives have been so socially and mentally gorgeous and invigorating! Everyone has a unique life path and is always doing their absolute best to do whats right by them. For me age has brought an immense amount of wisdom, strength, courage, beauty and wonder. Each day I create and seek knowledge; I glow in the exertion of my physical body; I beam in admiration for the glory of nature. I bow down to the process of aging with utmost respect. I think it is an honor it is to be an extension of the Universes playful process of existence. I have never felt so vital and special to this world. The magic of the aging cycle is something to be celebrated and I'm proud to be 23.
My birthday usually rests during the month that the weather finally starts becoming opulent and I take full advantage of that! Last year a large group of my friends drove out to the city to hit up my favorite spot of all time -Lincoln Park Zoo, which is so lush and floral and there are a ton of pretty restaurants to walk to. This year I decided to stay more local and have a picnic potluck at my favorite forest preserve that is just a few minutes from my house, complete with frisbees, NERF swords and Strawberritas. Check out the video below we recorded using the new GoPro I got gifted (Thanks, Colin💖)
